Our Nursery

The Heathers Nursery is an Ofsted rated GOOD setting. The nursery was established in the 1970’s and became a registered charity in 1993. We are a committee run setting and welcome children from 2 years to school age. We operate from a mobile building and classroom on the Heather Avenue Infant School site. We have 10 members of staff and can cater for up to 44 children per session.

Children are encouraged to explore both indoors and outdoors (and in all weathers!) We are able to offer free flow play from our Mobile while our classroom has an outdoor court yard play space. Our curriculum provides a flexible and responsive environment where children’s interests and explorations guide their learning. We are dedicated to supporting the development of children’s independence, building confidence and allowing them to make choices that reflect their interests and individual learning styles. Through play and quality interactions, our practitioners help children become resilient, capable, and self-assured learners.

We promote and value strong relationships with both children and their families and understand that parents/carers are a child’s first teacher and are vital partners in their children’s journey. By working together, early years practitioners and families can create a more complete picture of a child’s interests, stage of development and learning needs.

The Nursery aims to provide your child with a nurturing and safe space in which to thrive. We work within the Early Years Foundation Stage and understand that every child is an individual and their learning and development is unique to them.

The Heathers Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
